A few nights ago he decided to make bath time very tricky for his daddy by trying to suck on his toes the whole time he was in his tub. It was so funny to watch - we'd pull his foot down, and he'd stick it right back up. It was like it was on springs. Look at him all laid back and chillin' in his tub. Arm out, foot up... life is good.

5 Months Old

I'm five months old today, and look what I can do!

5 months already?! Harrison is all about being a big boy. He wants to stand up, not lay down; be at the table with mommy and daddy, not on the floor; eat real food, not baby stuff; and now sitting up! I swear if he could run around and play he would. At a friend's house the other day he watched 2 two year old boys running and playing and he just smiled the whole time. I thought for a moment he was going to jump off my lap and join in the fun - he looked like he wanted to play so bad! He is so observant and curious. He wants to see everything and touch everything. He will fight sleep for hours just so he doesn't miss out on what's going on. Everything goes into his mouth, his new favorite being his toes. He is wiggly and giggly and downright adorable! Every time we look at him we can hardly believe how big he is getting, and at least once a day one of us looks at the other and says, "Harrison is so cute!"

Big Boy

My the days seem to be going fast... Only two days until October! How did that happen?!? Am I just on mommy time, where you blink and suddenly it's been 5 months, or is the time passing this quickly for everyone?

Harrison is getting so big. And I'm pretty sure he thinks he's bigger than he really is. He is such a busy-body - can't sit still for anything. If you set him on the floor he thinks he needs to roll away (making for tricky diaper changes these days...), if you sit him up on the couch he thinks he needs to arch backward, if you sit him in his bumbo chair he thinks he needs to turn around to grab something... He is always moving, always looking, always grabbing for something. Everything goes straight to his mouth now, I'm sure to soothe those teething gums, but his teeth are protesting and I don't think they will EVER come. Sigh...

Here is little busy-boy's latest trick. He LOVES his swing, but now thinks he's too big to do it baby style. No more laying back and relaxing for this baby. He leans forward and sits up like a big boy! To do what? Well to grab the bars that support the swing of course! He can reach them pretty good, and yes can even grab hold. He then looks at me and starts to pout as if to say, "I'm not swinging any more!" The frown quickly melts away and he's back to work as soon as I pry his fingers off the bar and give him a push to get going again. When he gets bored with one side, he switches and reaches for the other. Silly baby...

We actually didn't have our camara with us (we remembered to take it, we did not, however, remember to take the cord needed to empty pictures off our memory card... We were out of memory after taking 3 pictures. Go figure...). Lucky for us, everyone else had a camara and let us snap a shot whenever we wanted to. This mostly resulted in everyone having hundreds of pictures of Harrison on their camaras, but he's a cutie so hopefully they didn't mind too much. We are still waiting to get copies of some of the pictures, so stay tuned for even more pics (as if you didn't get enough already) from our Hawaiian vacation!

Bring on the good stuff!

Lately Harrison has become very interested in what Peter and I are eating. His little hands try their best to intercept our food, or at least get a good hold on our drinks. He's also started making chewing sounds with his tongue and mouth (which mommy tried to pass off as "blowing kisses" (he loves me!), no... not so; he wants food). Milk is getting boring - this big boy wants some solids!

We got the okay from the doctor, bought some rice cereal, and decided to try it out! We weren't sure if Harrison would know what to do, but I held up the spoon with the first taste of cereal and I have never seen him open his mouth so big!! He practically grabbed my hand to shovel the food in! It was so funny. These pictures are classic:



In the end, most of the cereal ended up all over Harrison. He didn't care. He loved eating like a big boy. The best part of the whole feeding was when we ran out of food. Look at this face when we stopped feeding him -



That is not a happy baby... I guess he liked it! Good thing the spoon was enough to calm him down. Let the solids begin!

3 months old!

Okay, so Harrison is actually 4 months old now, but I'm using the excuse of being gone for more than half of August for the reason this pictures are so delayed. These were taken the week Harrison turned 3 months old. What a cutie! Way to cute not to share -

August

We had a busy August in the Wride household. First, the Wride clan descended on Utah from the East Coast and we spent some time with them in Cedar City (minus Peter.)

Everyone got back in time to see Peter gradumacate from BYU on the 17th and 18th. Thanks to Dad Wride for the tasty Tucano's afterwards!

The next morning we took off for California and got there in time for the twins' second birthday party. Harrison was really good in the car and only cried when his aunt Aimee called. Really.

On the 20th we took off for Hawaii and spent the next two weeks on the beach of the North Shore of Oahu. Our camera didn't have any space left so we don't have many pictures, still waiting to get them from Leslie's family who snapped some for us.

[We still hadn't acclimated to the time change, so we went for a 5 am walk on the beach]

We got back to the "main land" on August 31st and enjoyed BYU's dominance over Arizona. We took off that night, stayed with Grandma Jackie in St. George and stumbled into our house on Sunday night. We are glad to be home!
